I grew up in Manchester and didn't even have a garden until I was 9 so I feel I am now living my dream here in Dorset. I have tried to give my boys the childhod you describe...lots of the things you describe are their experiences! :-)
Wonderful post.

What absolutely lovely memories and gorgeous photos!
I have many relatives who, back in the day, were quite kind and loving. I very much enjoyed time spent with them at my grandmother's house. I was the first grandchild and therefore received plenty of attention. This was before The Attack of the Stupers (short as you know, for undeniably stupid persons) which didn't quite hit me until my college days.

Eating stuff- lemon curd and chocolate rice crispie cakes in particular :D
honey was introveneously fed me when I was small to get me to shut my mouth-it worked but all my teeth fell out soon after

Loathing getting my hair cut-we were brought to an old guy in town-Eddie- who was the cheapest barber in the northwest and for good reason. If he didn’t leave you bleeding, he left you the laughing stock of your class. He always recommended the hot ice cream in a nearby shop...which wasn’t funny at all and said he loved when people got colds as it made your hair grow quicker and subsequently his profits.

I'd never heard of Tahiti 80 until my Pilates instructor played their song, Heartbeat, in class last year. I love that song...I'm less sure about this one. Maybe it will grow on me after another few listens

Shaun: Pod Amorem on sw Tomasza, damn good pizza and a nice place.

burntmaze: Krakow is an amazing place, somehow it conspires to be restful and good for the soul without being a complete dead end place to live.

I do not like the socialistic architecture too... Even if I live just here in Slovakia, in Košice and we have the same type of buildings. But now many buildings get new paintings, so it is not so bad... But it was quite horrible in winter, when the trees had no colour and everything seemed pessimistic because almost all buildings were grey... I do not know what they were thinking of, when they chose the colour of the buildings...
And I think, that Katowice is a funny name. Especially for me, because kat in Slovak means executioner and katowice is than town of executioners :-)

Although Stuttgart is not so bad, I'm just spoiled rotten with my previous homes. ;-)

I hope you keep blogging from England!!!
